I will look for alternatives they are available to MS project. I’ll assume Project just isn’t available for Vista 64, or as others have said, MS has no interest in supporting it. To my experience, this kind of problems is typically caused by a conflict with another software component. That is why a reformat and re-install will most likely fix the problem. In most cases this is caused by the virusscanner or firewall.

I decided that that was my last try before reformatting the HD. I uninstalled all the applications I had on the computer. In regedit, I then saved the registry. Using F3, I deleted any entry I found with that string. I repeated with “Office “. I suppose there were or so entries that had been left behind. I then installed Office and then Project successfully.
